Operations

All networks evolve over time as the needs of their users and the business change, developing an operational management plan that meets the current and future needs of the network. Once the operational strategy is defined, the implementation and support for network operations to deliver the business and end user requirements involves a long term management commitment to resource the plan. e2E can support network owners and operators across all the key operational areas needed for the successful running of their network.

Some of our specific service capabilities for the operational needs of network owners and operators are included here. However, please contact e2E if your specific needs are not detailed, as we have probably completed successful projects in the areas where you need support.

Network Operations Concept Definition

View

A major part of the effective running of a network is the definition of its Operational Strategy. Success in this area can be best defined as the smooth uninterrupted running of the network delivering the anticipated user and business benefits. e2E have supported many network operators in the development of their operational strategies and have a wealth of experience in delivering working solutions to real world constraints.

e2E has been contracted by Paradigm Services Ltd to review the business processes to be introduced into their Network Operations area and ensuring consistency with supporting business tools such as SAP.

Network Operations Planning

View

Planning is a key part of the delivery of the Network Operations Concept and Strategy. The best strategy for success in this area can fall down without effective network planning. e2E have supported may network operators in the development of their operational plans across all types and size of networks.

Project:
e2E has been responsible for delivery and roll-out of an integrated work order and trouble ticketing capability at 3 (Hutchinson). This was required to manage across the Network Operations, Service Operations and Customer Care business areas and involved the definition of efficient end-to-end processes to be used across the business for work-flow and problem management

Site and Infrastructure Definition

View

To an end user the network is a transmission medium that simply works to facilitate the communication of their information in all its various guises from one point to another. In reality the network is a complex mix of hardware, software, people and physical resources. The definition of site and infrastructure requirements to deliver an operational network cannot be underestimated, and requires specific skills to minimize risk and maximize operational effectiveness.

Maintenance and Support

View

Network maintenance and support, both planned and to recover service lapses is a generally a costly and man power intensive overhead, but effective cover to support user service levels is essential. Maintenance starts with best practice in network design and operational strategies but the majority of effort is employed in the management and delivery of real time maintenance resources to deliver agreed service levels.

Project:
e2E has been contracted by Paradigm Services to provide the network maintenance and operational support activities required to transition from the Skynet-4 to Skynet-5 ground infrastructure and assisting in establishing the maintenance strategy and detailed plans. With responsibility for negotiating and establishing a range of third and fourth line in-service support contracts. Work also included the development of a wider Maintenance Strategy and Maintenance Plan covering all networks to be operated by Paradigm and a review of the Skynet-5 Availability, Reliability, Maintainability and Survivability (ARMS) plan being implemented by the system prime contractor.

User Interface Development

View

Creating effective user interfaces to a network is fundamental to delivering a first class user experience. Though many interfaces are standard, these often need significant bespoke tailoring to deliver the anticipated service and many new interfaces, both software and hardware terminal equipment, need to be developed. e2E has a skilled team of designers ready to meet the exacting needs of your network and it’s users.

Training

View

Operator Training is an essential pre-requisite to the successful integration of a network into its operational environment and requires an ongoing investment by the network owner to ensure the highest levels of network availability. e2E has been responsible for the preparation and delivery of a number of engineering and operator level training courses that align with key systems being introduced into an operator’s infrastructure. e2E is typically selected to perform this training due to specific domain and equipment level knowledge. Training has been conducted for both commercial and governmental organizations.
