NEATTMaccess is our next-generation communications device that exhibits game-changing miniaturisation and, hence, size, weight and power (SWaP) advantages when compared with any similar device currently on the market today.

Built using e2E’s innovative software development environment, NEATTMaccess is specifically targeted at new and increasingly prominent low-cost innovative delivery platforms such as airborne drones, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and small satellites.

The first variant will be commercially available from Q4 2016 and is specifically designed to provide a satellite communications capability once installed on small Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS). This will enable these platforms to have longer endurance and wider coverage due to a beyond-line-of-sight (BLOS) communications capability. Migration onto other platforms only involves a 6 – 9 month development and readiness timescale, making NEATTMaccess the technology of choice going forward.

NEATTMaccess purposely comprises three units to provide for effective flexibility and re-use, thereby preserving up-front investment costs for when upgrades are released.

The terminal (based on the “credit-card” sized Satellite Data Unit board shown below) will weigh less than 1 kg. Key Features include:

    • Next generation SDU will use dual-channel transceiver

The SDU is supplemented by the Radio Frequency Subsystem (RFS) and finally the Antenna Unit (AU) to form the complete communications node. 

Neataccess

NEATTMaccess has been sponsored under an European Space Agency ARTES Programme that has committed 75% institutional funding, following extensive technical and market due diligence. The lead application in the advanced stages of  construction is a low data rate (100kbps) device that, due to its revolutionary low SWaP form factor, makes it ideal for installation on lightly unmanned RPASs and for satellite communications. The data link is to enable Command & Control (C2) administered by the ground-based RPAS Operator. e2E is serving as the satellite communications terminal provider to a RPAS manufacturer who has initial customers for the service already identified, notably in the Energy sector and for applications including pipeline and electricity pylon monitoring.
