International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) - IAEA Secure Communication Network Feasibility Study

 

Background: The Department of Safeguards (SG) at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is responsible for monitoring a large number of nuclear facilities across the world to ensure Member States compliance with international safeguards treaties.

Capability(ies) Utilised: Systems Engineering

Our Role: e2E conducted a feasibility study to design and cost a Secure Global Communications Network for the IEAE. The Study was jointly let by the IAEA and the European Space Agency (ESA)

  • Investigation of the current IAEA communications infrastructure to understand and assess its future suitability
  • Identification of the requirements for the future Secure Global Communications Network (SGCN) together with a migration strategy from the incumbent infrastructure
  • Network architecture design with emphasis on the use of satellite communications for secure voice and data delivery
  • Delivery of comprehensive report to IAEA senior management
