e2E has been contracted by Ericsson to develop feasibility studies across four areas of their BT 21st century network (BT 21CN) TSS Call Server product integration. The studies were completed in the areas of: Customer Acceptance, IP Interconnect, Test Support and Test Configuration Management.

Defence Communications
Service Agency (DCSA)

Project:
e2E has been contracted by the Defence Communication Services Agency (DCSA) to compare the expected life-cycle cost of continuing with legacy service management systems across mobile, fixed and satellite communications networks and their associated processes and delivery infrastructure against a potential new implementation. The project also included identifying additional economic, operational and business benefits that could be taken into account when deciding whether to proceed to the next stage of the procurement of a new Service Management System. When the Return On Investment (ROI) analysis was completed, resulting in the acceptance of the new Service Management System, e2E subsequently managed its installation.
 

 

 

Tender, Bid and Contractor Management

Essential to the business success of a network roll out is the effective management of third parties from the initial tender creation, the supplier bid management and selection through to management of the 3rd parties´ delivery within the project plan. This is a time consuming and specialised activity best suited to experienced procurement management resources. e2E have provided this type of support to network companies for many years and would be happy to discuss your unique needs.

Project:
3 (Hutchison) System Harmonisation Strategy included the company´s Operation Support System being ported from Italy to the United Kingdom. e2E managed the competitive bidding process, reviewing vendor proposals, supporting the subsequent contract negotiations and managed the business´ expectations and timescales.
 

 

 

Business Planning and Review

Best practices in the planning, management and the review of the business programs needed to deliver networks in line with the business case are considered necessary if a business is to protect its investment in the network infrastructure. Most businesses do not resource effective planning and management reviews to enable them to reduce the risks of non delivery. However, these on-going planning and reviews are a cost effective way of managing risk.

e2E worked with Thales delivering the technical input needed to their internal Business Plan for the utilisation of Inmarsat´s BGAN system for military applications. The work involved preparation of the business plan and subsequent presentations to senior management, including assessing various options for an ISP point of Presence (POP).

e2E has been responsible for reviewing the sub-system design documentation, including the Radio Access Network and the Core Network nodes with an emphasis on the operational requirements of availability, reliability and maintainability for the Inmarsat Broadband Global Area Network (BGAN) service.

e2E supported Avanti Communications in their work with the European Space Agency under the TANGO program. We took responsibility for generation of the detailed Service and Network Management technical and operational systems requirements that formed part of the ‘Common Telecommunications Services Platform’. This platform is being implemented to assist customers in the selection, installation, configuration and subsequent monitoring of appropriate data networks that can be used to receive earth observation related data and applications.

This involved project and technical management of the major sub-contractor, resolving wider systems issues in liaison with other primary ground and space segment teams and reporting the status to the senior management.
